October 2011 Customs Broker Exam Answers

Congratulations to everyone who took the Customs Broker Exam today!

Thank you to Pam Berry and the employees at Marisol International for providing a copy of the test.   I hope to post some of proposed answers later this evening and the remaining answers sometime on Tuesday.

Additional answers will be posted as they are completed.   Due to the volume of questions, I will not be able to answer emails.   If you want to post an appropriate comment, they will be posted so that the readers can discuss the answers with each other.  Detailed comments may be available for some questions, so post the question number if you want to see detailed comments on a specific question that has been answered.

Hi Karin,

thank you for this info.

Thanks! Even if I assume I get all the remaining ones (the ones marked in blue on the answer sheet), I still get an 80%. Feeling pretty confident.

On Q43 - wouldn't the answer be A as the merchandise is restricted? 141.113(i) - Sorry if this posts twice - having Google issues.

I'm not sure what you are asking since the answer shown is "A." Yes, the cite to the regulations is different. Sometimes the answer can be found in more than one part of the regulations. If "A" ends up not being the correct answer and you want to protest, then the section of the regulations you chose to support your protest will become more important.

Sorry - I misread that one, my bad.

If your answers hold up, I have squeaked by with 76.25% correct....

Congratulations "Opie"
You might do better than 76.25, since I usually miss between 3 and 6 questions. I might have gotten one wrong and you will have answered it correctly!

Mine was the 2nd comment above. I meant that even if I got the blue ones WRONG, I'd still get an 80%. Now that you've finished the answers, I'm looking at closer to an 88% :) Thanks!

Thank you for posting this. I've been hoping that this is last time I have to take this text and it looks like it is. Even with a discrepancy for 3-6 incorrect answers, I have a cushion for error.
Thank you.

Thank you for posting these answers. This is my first time taking the test.
According to this list I made a 73% and according to another online source I made a 71%. So close, but yet so far. I noticed 2-3 that I "should have known" but I just blanked out in the exam. :)

Best of luck everyone!

Did anyone received their office result notice letter from Customs yet?

Anonymous said...

How long until we receive our notice?

Karin said...

Notifications are usually sent within 4 to 6 weeks of the exam. Since CBP posted the answers quickly this time, maybe they will send out the answers sooner too!

Thanks for your postings! Your preliminary answers have "D" for Question 52 and the Answer Key on the CBP website has "B". Both sources cite 162.74.

Is it possible "D" is really the correct answer?

It's been 6 weeks...has anyone received their result yet?

Anonymous said...

Nope...I am hoping to hear something this week!!! I will be posting once I have received my letter...hopefully it's good news!!!!

i heard through my local port contact that letters will go out on the 21st!!!!!

I hope the info your contact got is accurate. It's been 7 weeks and not-knowing is killing me. (19 confirm wrong + 1 not sure what my answer was, since I circled two choices on the question booklet)

My contact at CBP Honolulu emailed me on Saturday saying:

"Our office has received notification from our Broker Management Branch that the Broker Exam Test results have been finalized. You should be receiving notification of you score fairly soon. We have not received a copy of the exam scores as of yet.

"Please let me know if you have any questions or have not received notification of you score via mail by the end of the month.

"Thank you for your patience and best of luck."

I can't believe I still haven't received my letter yet???? Really??? 8 + plus weeks since we've taken the exam! Answer Key was sent out just two weeks after the exam....does it really take 6 weeks to score a scan-tron???

Anonymous said...

I agree, this is almost 9 weeks, has customs made a statement on why the letters are so late? Local ports are recieveing the pass fail notices but not the scores, have they lost the scans?

just got my letter!!! I PASSED!!!!! Hopeful others are receiveing theirs as well???

holterbarbour said...

Congratulations! I'm both happy for you *and* happy for me knowing that the letters are in fact going out.
